It is the main air terminal in the Netherlands and is located 9 km (5.5 miles) southwest of Amsterdam, next to the A4 motorway that connects the city with The Hague and Rotterdam. It is one of the busiest European airports in terms of passengers and cargo and operates with international flights around the globe. It has vip and business areas, financial facilities, mobile phone services, workstations, plugs for electrical devices, internet kiosks and Wi-Fi access free of charge for 4 hours. It has restaurants and cafes, duty free shops and a supermarket in Schiphol Plaza. There is a first aid center, pharmacies, baby care facilities, a hairdresser, a prayer room, spas, a library, museums, showers, and children’s entertainment areas. The enclosure has an extensive network of direct buses to surrounding towns, as well as a train station below the airport. Opposite Schiphol Plaza there are private or shared taxi services available 24 hours. Travel time to the center of Amsterdam is around 15 minutes.
